George Llewellyn Lloyd

Lloyd, George Llewellyn was born at Newport 26th February, 1877, and was educated at Bath and at Leys School, Cambridge. Was articled to his father, Mr. H. G. Lloyd, who died in September 1914, matriculated L.C.B. London, and obtained First Class Honouns, Solicitors Final. Was captain of the Newport Football team 1899-1903, and also of the Newport Cricket team for the same period. Has been very successfully identified with Welsh International Football and Monmouthshire County Cricket. Is a solicitor practising here as partner in the firm of Messrs. Lloyd and Pratt. In June 1916 joined the Artists' Rifles as a private; admitted to Artillery Cadet School in following August, received his commission in December; proceeded to France in January, 1917; was posted to the 5th Brigade R.H.A , and saw continuous fighting. Was in hospital in England for three months in 1918, and went out again, being appointed adjutant of the brigade, and received acting rank of captain. Address: 28 Stow Hill. Tel. 2907.
